I’ve been thinking a lot about a comment one of my friends made the other day on Facebook. It was in response to one of his friends — they were arguing about AI art, and whether it’s really “our” art or just stealing other people’s ideas. I thought it was really funny that people — simple-minded, short-thinking people, there’s so many of them out there — don’t see the big picture. They’re just seeing the hand in front of their face, right? Focusing on that and not the rest of the world.
I find it silly. I saw a lot of videos like this online too — there’s this creator I saw who’s getting into this back-and-forth, hours-long YouTube battle, making videos about each other. One guy saying AI art is stealing and low effort, another guy saying “well, I’m a professional artist and I create the baseline and then I put it in Photoshop or whatever and make it look better, and AI just polishes it” — blah blah blah. I thought: these motherfuckers have this much free time, man. And maybe, you know what, it’s OK to have free time. But it’s about these people that decide to spend their free time just pissing into the ocean — just whipping their fat fucking dicks out in front of the world and trying to make that stream really strong, right? Everybody’s watching. Just pissing in the ocean. It’s absolutely insane.
It’s one of those things where if you take a step back and look past your hand, you see that AI art is inevitable. I think the smartest thing that happened was like the Actors Guild — they fought really hard to build AI rights into their contracts. They were fucking genius, man. We’re sitting here arguing about AI art when AI is taking over every single entry-level job that exists — from coding to operations to literally everything. And these motherfuckers are arguing about AI art when in about — not 10 years, probably one to two years — their jobs are going to be lost to AI. Who gives a fuck about art then? All art is going to be AI. Movies are going to be AI generated. Everything that used to have a skill ceiling doesn’t have one anymore. Anybody can make a movie now, right? They could just use AI assets. Web pages — Squarespace and what have you — completely pointless now. You could make a web page in about 2 seconds.
I think the more interesting thought process here — minus the fucking morons who are arguing over gnats on the fucking ground when they should be watching the freight train coming at them full speed — is what happens next as far as AI and the world. Now that the playing field has leveled, where there used to be a slight barrier to entry to do certain things, there is no barrier anymore. Software — you as a person could just talk to a computer and tell it to write software that you’ve been paying $5,000 a year for for your business. You can just build it.
I think the real deep dive is to think about how you can use it to your advantage. And right now there’s a lot of Jarvis bros who, for some reason, have such a fucking hard-on for Tony Stark and Iron Man and the Jarvis system. They think it’s so cool that they can talk to Claude and have it make some interface that’s a big circle that pulsates when it talks. They think that’s the coolest thing, and they sell classes on how to make it and how to automate print-on-demand T-shirt shops on Etsy. This is their new grift. Everybody’s trying to cash out because the barrier to entry is so incredibly low.
It’s so interesting. I think the real job though — nah, maybe I’m just rambling. I probably am rambling. That’s why I usually type these out. Even this fucking blog, man. I don’t even type shit anymore. I’m just talking into Microsoft Word and Microsoft Word is pasting it into Claude, and Claude is organizing my ideas and trying to keep my original tone. Nothing is real anymore. Fuck everything. Who cares. Fuck you. Stop reading this site.
